Grandma’s Dutch Honey Cake

This is my Grandmother’s recipe for Dutch Honey Cake. It uses no eggs and is very easy to through together quickly.

Dutch Honey Cake

Ingredients

  • 5 Tablespoons of Honey
  • 4 oz of sugar (castor)
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder (Dutch cinnamon is the go)
  • 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cloves
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 12 oz of Self Raising Flour – or 12 oz of Plain flour and 4.5 teaspoons of Baking Powder
  • 1 teaspoon of butter, softened
  • Method

    Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix through thoroughly (or use an electric mixer).
    Poor in to a lined, greased loaf tin and back for 45min to 1hr at 175ºC (350ºF).

    Slice and serve buttered.
